Peace Action Campaign

It started in 1994 with the support of SNV/NOVIB/DRA consortium, this programme was the very first of the collective. CAP programme led to two other programmes considered as fundamental. They are « Institutional reinforcement of the collective and member Associations » and « Information, Education and Communication ». This programme is ran through member organisation and women grassroots structures.

Programme orientations are the following :

• Promote peace culture,

• Improve women intervention capacity through training and Education,

• Participate in women housing construction activities according to the theme adopted during women international day « shelter for every woman »,

• Reinforce women economic power.

Planend activities for this programme are the following :

Promote peace culture

• Intensify CAP actions through different organisations of the collective and grassroot groups,

• Start CAP activities in different areas (Communes) and Zones not yet covered

• Continue concertations at national level and partners involved in the preparation of national policy in peace education field,

• Prepare panafrican conference activities ( 1996 in Kigali on the theme « Gender, Peace and Development »),

• Inter-relationship with programmes considered as concrete actions that CAP has highlighted,

• Involve the programme in the country’s sector based policies

Promote justice, security and equality.

Improve women intervention capacity through training and Education

• Training regional coordinators,

• Training member organisations leaders of the collective,

• Training of trainers in member organisations, in regions and areas (Communes).

• Participate in housing construction activities

• Study the feasibility of the programme set up,

• Identify accomodation need,

• Look for construction sites,

• Promote mutual cooperation and solidarity among member Associations which have construction in their attributions,

• Pressurise the Government so that it puts up a habitat policy.

Reinforce women economic power

• Promote credit and saving system as well as mobilise for a guarantee fund,

• Play an active role in the revision of inadequate and obsolete laws,

• Explore other intervention domains for women to be self reliant,

• Conduct some Researches on technologies that help women to alleviate their household duties,

• Sensitize women to be more aware and arise their consciousness towards their socio-economic development.
